About Maison 72°E

You may have walked into rooms that felt right before you understood why.

That feeling was not an accident. It was your truth — made inhabitable.

Maison 72°E was born where nine meets the sea - on the 72nd meridian, in the city of Mumbai. The city that absorbs everything and returns it transfigured as the oldest form of mastery.

72°E is the meridian associated with ambition and imagination, with exchange and trade, with the particular intelligence of cultures meeting each other halfway.

7 + 2. The arithmetic was not chosen. It was arrived at — the way all true things are.  Nine, the numeral of completion in Indian tradition. The one that always returns to itself no matter what you put it through.

For a studio that works at the intersection of cultures, across high-pressure environments, on projects where the margin for error is low, this was the only coordinate that was ever accurate.

A space is not built for the eye.

It is built instead for the part of you that remembers something it has never seen. We work towards finding that unheld space and giving it form through material, proportion, and light.

Maison 72°E is an international design studio led by founder and principal Kavita Singh, specialising in luxury hospitality, bespoke residential, and complex cross-border projects.

The studio operates at the intersection of design leadership, strategic advisory, and cultural fluency, supporting clients where clarity, discretion, and long-term thinking are essential. Rather than pursuing a signature aesthetic, Maison 72°E is known for its ability to align vision, brand, and operational realities across demanding, multi-stakeholder environments.

With experience spanning the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia, the practice brings a deep understanding of how global clients live, travel, and experience space. Projects are approached with restraint, rigour, and sensitivity to context, ensuring outcomes that endure both aesthetically and operationally.

Maison 72°E engages selectively, often at early or critical stages of a project, where design intent must be established, protected, or recalibrated.

The studio is trusted by developers, operators, and private clients who view design as a strategic asset.

Meet our Founder

Kavita Singh, founder and principal, leads an international design practice built on a conviction that the most important work happens before a single line is drawn.

Formed in Mumbai, now based in Bahrain, and practised across the Gulf, India, and Southeast Asia — her approach carries the particular intelligence of someone who has navigated complexity from the inside.

She is also a watercolour painter. It shows in the way she sees light.

She works with assurance in environments where multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and strong personalities must be brought into alignment — not through force, but through the kind of quiet authority that makes other people in a room feel that the right person is in charge.

Her clients are developers, operators, and private individuals who have usually worked with designers before and found something missing — not talent, but judgment. The ability to know when to intervene and when to hold still. To make decisions that serve the project's long-term integrity rather than the moment's loudest voice.

What distinguishes her work is not a signature aesthetic but a disciplined restraint around what should remain unseen — and an ability to make quiet but decisive interventions at the moments that matter most, stabilising projects without disrupting the vision that brought them into being.

She believes that a space is only complete when the person who inhabits it stops noticing the design entirely — and begins, instead, to notice themselves.

How we work

We engage selectively and deliberately.

We listen first. Everything else follows from that.

Each project is principal-led from the first conversation to the last decision — beginning with a clear definition of scope, authority, and expectations, so that everyone who matters is aligned before the work begins.

We work best with clients who value discretion over display, clarity over spectacle, and design as a long-term investment rather than a short-term statement.

We do not aim to do more projects — only the right ones.

If you are at the beginning of something complex, something special

or at a moment when clarity needs to be restored,

we would like to hear from you.
